Our annual smallmouth trip provided good quality but maybe fewer numbers than years past.
Paul had three 5s and five or six 4s that lead the way with a final total of 26 smallies.
A really hefty fish refused to come on board or the biggie board may be slightly different.
Fun stuff!

And another youngster gets his personal best.
Fun time with good results on a short Saturday outing…

The youngsters were the stars today!
Smallmouth up to 4 lbs and a 10.30 lb drum.
And a couple heartbreakers that didn’t make it to the boat…
This family picked up the finesse method rather quickly.
Fun stuff

Happy 250th! Hope you enjoy and appreciate this special Independence Day.
The fishing transition continues as there seems to be more and more postspawners chasing baitfish and gobies. I, for one, will be happy when the transition is complete and they recover from the spawn.
Finding the food is usually our shortcut to finding smallies but there seems to be baitfish everywhere. Until the “food” transitions to normal summer areas we have to work harder.
We are at the midpoint of our 2026 season and I am excited for the July, August and September smallmouth fishing.
The first half was very good…
